Gary started dancing aged 4, at Harry and Betty Wilcox's school in Southampton. He began
competing at the age of 9 with Sherralyn Beech and they were finalists in the International
Championships in the Juvenile Ballroom event. Over the following years, Gary took part in
national and international Junior, Youth and Amateur championships in both Ballroom and
Latin American disciplines. He competed on the collegiate circuit and choreographed a number
of group showdances, then moved into contemporary dance and choreography.
After a career break for medical school and business training, he dusted off his dancing shoes to
start dancing with Ming in November 2005. From humble beginnings (i.e. Gary relearning the names of the
steps!), they have built a successful career that now takes them around the world to train and compete.

Ming started ballet aged 5 and trained to a high level in the
pre-professional program at Ballet Austin Academy in Texas, USA until
the age of 18. Ming competed for a number of years in the US in
Ballroom and Latin American but now competes for England with Gary in
the Ballroom style.
Ming revels in the role of "the glamour in the partnership" and loves to
use her understanding of dance principles from the ballet to develop the expression and
musicality of her ballroom performances.
